The weekend of the 30th April/1st May is a busy one for YMC. In addition to our usual classes on a Saturday morning at Bigwood House, some of YMC’s orchestras will be performing at the North London Festival and the YMC Concerto Prize will take place.
YMC at the North London Festival- 30th April from 2pm
This weekend YMC’s First and Junior Orchestras will be performing at the North London Festival taking place at the Hampstead Garden Suburb Free Church. The YMC First Orchestra will perform pieces by Bartok and Strauss at 2:30pm and the Junior Orchestra will perform pieces by Brahms and Florence Price at 2:50pm. Please do come and support YMC’s musicians!
For YMC musicians- please arrive at the HGS Free Church for 2pm
Dress: black/dark trousers/skirts with a mono coloured top (if possible YMC colours or white)
YMC Concerto Prize- 1st May from 2:30pm
The YMC Concerto Prize takes place on Sunday 1st May from 2:30pm at the Hampstead Garden Suburb Free Church. Prizewinners from each class will have the opportunity to perform their chosen concerto with the Professional YMC Concerto Prize Orchestra. We are thrilled that highly respected cellist and cello teacher Gillian Thoday (cello teacher at the Royal Northern College of Music, Junior Guildhall and Chethams) will be coming to adjudicate the classes. The violin classes run from 2:30pm-3:15pm and the cello and double bass classes from 3:15pm-4:50pm.
